Robert Burwen joined Hospice of Palm Beach County as a staff pharmacist in December 2004. He was promoted to the position of Director of Pharmacy in 2005. Mr. Burwen was President and Chief Executive Officer of Premier Pharmacy Inc. in Boynton Beach which operated an independent retail pharmacy. Mr. Burwen spent 3 years with North American Robotics as Vice President, preparing and writing business plans, 5 year financial forecasts, negotiating contracts and working with overseas operations in Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong, China. Prior to that he was the Director of Pharmacy Services at Doctors Hospital of Lake Worth. Mr. Burwen instituted the first turnkey pharmacy computer system for inpatient hospitals in the U.S. working with Becton Dickinson Medical Systems. As Director of Pharmacy and working with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, he was early leader in development of therapeutic interchange procedures. He holds his B.S. in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and was recognized by the college for his early work in pioneering computers in pharmacy by being named to the Outstanding Young Men of America.
