Hospice of Palm Beach County has pain management programs Bookmark and Share

As the Today Show's Matt Lauer gets ready to host his 11th annual fundraiser for Hospice of Palm Beach County the weekend of December 12th and 13th, the organization wants the community to know about a number of programs it has to help patients manage pain. Many of these patients are dealing with life-threatening illnesses..or are in their final stages of life. One approach integrates several therapeutic techniques to bring patients a sense of comfort. Hospice patient John Diaczok looks forward to the occasional visits from his therapists. They don't come just to chat; they bring relief. Massage therapist Joe Hamilton is the "hands-on" member of the group, urging John to breathe in and out in a calming rhythm.

Music therapists Carla Tanguay and Bree Gordon keep their distance and perfom their rendition of the Beatles' "Let It Be," one of John's favorite songs. This team is very connected and working toward the same goal.
