The Harley Group Motorcade Showers Gifts on Hospice Families
A mountain of toys has been collected for bereaved children in Palm Beach County, kicked off on December 7th by a leather-clad Santa and his Elves! Each year, they surprise children by interrupting the annual Palm Beach Harley Owners Group Holiday Bowling Party, hosted by Palm Beach Strike Zone. Hospice of Palm Beach County employees continued the toy drive, with a total of 64 children receiving a little holiday cheer.
"The kids' eyes light up in wonder as the Harley Owners Group ride in with Santa," said Rex Ford, president of Hospice Foundation of Palm Beach County, which sponsors the bowling party and pizza each year. “We are so grateful for their support as they brighten children’s lives year after year during a difficult time."
In addition to the support of the Hospice Foundation of Palm Beach County and the Palm Beach Harley Owners Group, Walgreens donates toys and goodies for every child -- even donating the scotch tape, batteries and wrapping paper for Santa’s elves. Employees donate gifts to children who have gone through Hospice bereavement counseling.
"The holidays are extremely difficult for children experiencing grief, so seeing carefree smiles is a treat for all of us. The generosity of Walgreens and the Ladies of Harley truly sheds a little light on the holidays for the children we serve," said Chelsea Johnson, Supportive Care Manager at Hospice of Palm Beach County. "We couldn't do it without them."
