Who and what is Hospice of Palm Beach County Crisis Response Team (CRT)?

CRT is a program of Hospice of Palm Beach County serving Palm Beach County’s lay and professional community. In addition to group and individual counseling, we provide crisis intervention services and crisis management consultation and services for businesses.

What are the qualifications of the CRT professionals?

Every CRT member is a masters level trained mental health professional. All have extensive training in crisis intervention, include certified trauma specialists and/or licensed mental health practitioners.

What kind of services does CRT provide?

Our services range from meeting with one individual to conducting large briefings involving several hundred staff. CRT provides pre-incident education and management consultation, in addition to counseling for adults and children in the community.

We offer options that best fit the unique needs of businesses planning crisis management procedures. Our response is customized, based on each situation and assessment of the individuals involved.

Call (561) 227-5175 to set up a consultation or for more information.

What is a traumatic event?

A traumatic event can vary from person to person, however it is commonly referred to as an incident that has adversely impacted an individual, group or team. A traumatic event can be a serious injury, life threatening diagnosis, layoffs, hostage situation, prolonged media coverage of a negative event, sudden death, discovery of child abuse, neglect or death or witnessing a horrific incident.

How soon will CRT respond?

Each situation is assessed with the caller and an appropriate response is immediately coordinated. We may plan an on-site visit within an hour or a follow up in the next day or two.

Why provide crisis response?

Traumatic events can have a negative impact resulting in decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, greater utilization of health and mental health resources, reduced workplace cohesion, depression, paranoia, anxiety and many other symptoms. The rewards of intervention and counseling are tremendous when individuals and staff feel cared for and supported.

How does Employee Assistant Programs fit into crisis response?

Our team is comprised of specialists in crisis response rather than short-term therapies. We work closely with Employee Assistance Programs as there may be an individual thats need continued support beyond the crisis response.
